Laptop has Windows 2000 Professional SP3.
Word 2000 SR-1 is installed.
When connected to LAN, Word functions correctly.
When network cable is removed, and laptop is disconnected, WORD lets
the user type a few things, but will lock up if saved, or if WORD is
closed.
Looked at the File locations, and all are on the local "C" drive.
Looked at the normal.dot, which seems okay, and is on the local PC.
Tried starting Word withouth any startup files (msword.exe /a) and the
problem is still exhibited.
Updated E-trust virus scan to latest DAT and ran full scan, no virii
found.
If network cable is plugged in at the first sign if a hang (saving
local document) then everything begins working again. If you wait,
the PC begins exhibiting symptoms of being ot of resources, and you
can't even shut down, or log out.
It seems apparent that WORD is trying to find or get something off the
network. The computer freezes and looses resources as time goes by
without communicating.
Any assistance is appreciated.

Please remove the "NOSPAM".
