Word 2000 freezes when saving to floppy

Andy Morgan

I am running Windows 2000 with SP4 and Office 2000 Pro with SP3. When
saving to a floppy, the hourglass stays on the word document, the floppy
spins for a bit, and you have to reset the computer. Task manager will not
shut word down.
I can save to C, then copy to A[my computer], then open and work in the
document on A.
We are a BCS test centre and require candidates exams to be performed from
floppy disk. There have been no problems like this for the past three years
with the same software installed but problem started occuring last week.
Would appreciate any help anyone can offer!

Hi Andy

It's never a good idea to save to floppy, but I've noticed there have been
several posts here that seem to relate a sudden onset of computer "locking
up" when saving to floppy to a recent update in Windows 2000.

Ah! Margaret! Do you think it's a Windows 2000 update, huh? I've never run
it, but I am watching these threads, too, and I agree. It's like a bad
contagious heat rash. :)
