Word 2000 freezing

When is elect my word programme, it opens with the blue block and then i get
i white page and there is stays. This has not happened before. My excel,
powerpoint, publisher,etc are all working. How can i get my word to work
again?

Thank you for reply. Done everything it said and still no go. I then went
to run and typed in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\WINWORD.EXE" /a
and EUREKA!!! it opened. On further investigation i found that the /a is
missing from the command line and thats why it did not open. How do i go and
add the /a by the icon so that in future and will open when i click on the
icon... Thanks

Quoting the "If Word crashes as soon as it opens" section in
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProblemsStartingWord.htm :

"The /a switch is intended as a troubleshooting tool only, and you shouldn't
continue to use it to start Word. Any customisations you make while in this
mode will be discarded. If that fixes it, either your Normal template or one
of the files in Word's Startup path are probably corrupt..."

That means you cannot have done everything described in the paragraphs after
that. Please try them... they work!
