Word 2000 (from Office 2000) & W.Suite 2003

I was reading a description about Works Suite 2003 and
this caught my attention:

"Microsoft Works Suite is an upgrade to Word, Works or any
other word processing program.

To be eligible for Microsoft Works Suite 2003, you must be
a licensed user of any one of the following applications:
Microsoft Works (any version) . Microsoft Word (version
6.0 or later for MS DOS, Windows, or Windows NT
Workstation) . WordPerfect for MS DOS (4.0 - 5.1) .
WordPerfect for Windows (5.1-9) . Any Productivity suites
from Novell or Corel which contain these WordPerfect
versions."

I am looking for an upgrade to my word 2000 which came
from Office 2000 Professional, and Word XP is for me.
Does that mean works suite will count as an upgrade to
word 2000? I wish it did because my copy of office 2000
has a bunch of clipart I want to keep, yet upgrade to word
XP.

Hi J.,

While the upgrade edition of MS Works Suite 2003
should recognize an installed copy of MS Word 2000
(standalone or as part of Office 2000) you may want
to check with the MS Works folks in
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.works.win
to be sure.

MS Works Suite 2003 is a qualifying product to upgrade
to Office 2003 when it comes out in late October, but
not to MS Office XP (2002). Office 2000 is also a
qualifying product to update to Office XP (2002) now
and you can then get Office 2003 for the cost of shipping.

Note that MS Office XP/2002 products switched from MS
Clip Gallery to MS Clip Organizer. You can use both
Clip products but you can't migrate the keywords and categories
of MS Clip Gallery to MS Clip Organizer 2002 (but you
can access the graphics).
