Word 2000 frozen

A Word attachment arrived in Outlook. Clicking on the
Paper Clip to open it launched Word 2000 as usual but the
whole machine then froze with the opening panel (giving
user ID etc) displayed. M/c was rebooted but any attempt
to relaunch Word gave same result. Thorough virus checks
have been made with both Norton and F-Prot with nothing
reported. Word has been reloaded but still does not work.
Where should we go frm here, please? tia Chris
