Word 2000 hangs

Word was working fine, for an unknown resaon every time it
is started now the Word logo comes up and the machine
hangs. Have to do Ctrl, Alt, Del to restart PC.

Have removed and reinstalled word numerous times.

Any thoughts on how to fix??

Reinstalling Word rarely helps in such cases because it does not overwrite
Normal.dot or the Registry or remove add-ins from Word's Startup folder, and
these are the three main causes of such problems. For some troubleshooting
