Word 2000 has gone mad!

Word 2000 has suddenly flipped! Each time I try to change formatting
on a piece of text the formatting is applied to the whole document. I
can rectify this by clicking on 'undo', and then the formatting
applies as I wanted it to. This is a new problem. I've tried using
the cd to fix the problem, but it hasn't. I tried again, and now the
correct file on the CD cannot be found. I am using XP home edition.
Can anyone help?

- Place your cursor in a paragraph that exhibits the behavior
- Go to Format/Style
- Click the Modify command
- Remove the tick in "Automatically update".

Thanks Beth - don't know how that tick got there! I've changed the
'Normal' template, so hopefully it won't happen again.
