Word 2000 has quit on me--HELP!

I know, I still have Office 2000 and I'm fine with that, except for a new
problem. All of a sudden, I can't open Word. I have tried to uninstall and
reinstall the whole of Office, and everything else works without problems,
except for Word. The opening label says "Uninstalled Version, Unlicensed
User" but it says that same thing for Excel so I can't think it means
anything. Then I just get an error box saying that the program has
encountered an unexplained error and that's it. I can't open anything in
Word, I even though I could run Word from the original installation CD but
that won't work either.
I'm really at a loss here, and in the midst of a job search, so the timing
is horrible. I have run virus and spyware scans and come up empty. I've
removed and reinstalled Office about five times now and still nothing, Word
just won't work. IF anyone out there has any advice on anything I can try,
or if I should just give up, please, I'd so appreciate any help you could
lend.
Thank You!
