Word 2000: Help Index: Won't Appear when Clicked

Anyone have solution:
When I click on Help Menu, I get explanation of help but
not the help index. Haven't used this feature
for 'forever'...don't want Assistant, just index...last
time I used it, whenever that was, no problem!!!
