word 2000 locked up

Ken Goldsberry

I scanned a page into Word Perfect 8 and saved it as Word
RTF. The scan did not work properly I guess and I wanted
to get rid of the resulting RTF document... so I closed
it. Immediately a window titled Frames appeared which
stated "This program is in use Global template Normal.dot.
and upon trying to get help was told to click
" http://support.microsoft.com/support ..I have not done
that yet.

However, when I try to exit the file a window appears that
states "this file is in use by another application or
user. (c:\WINDOWS\...\templates\normal.dot) and all I can
do is click OK ! Upon doing that a "save as" window
appears that has in the "save in box" the
choice "Templates" ... upon hitting the box arrow other
choices appeared. The lower file name box
had "Normal.dot" and I could click on "Save" or "Cancel"

When I do either one, I get into another circle of "in
use" verbage.

When I open Word 2000 to use it... the window appears that
says "This file is in use by another Application"... I
JUST WANT TO GET THE WHOLE SITUATION CLEARED OUT SO I CAN
START OVER FROM SQUARE ONE .... AND CAN ONCE AGAIN START A
DOCUMENT IN WORD OR CONVERT A WP8 DOCUMENT TO WORD RTF.

HELP ! ! ! ! I HOPE I WILL BE NOTIFIED IF AN ANSWER IS
PROVIDED... BECAUSE I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW I GOT INTO THIS
CHAT ROOM AND IF IT IS THE CORRECT ONE...
