Word 2000 Mail Merge problem

A

AudreyRae

When I use mail merge with Microsoft Word 2000, my program freezes up after
selecting the excel file data source. I then have to end program every time.
I have tried to uninstall and re-install with no resolution. I have also
tried to delete the normal.dot "hidden file" as suggested by a local IT
person. This does not help either. I have tried to create all new documents
both in word and excel in case one in particular is corrupt, but this has no
effect. I am at a loss. Please help!

Hi Audrey,

Have you tried running 'Detect & Repair' from Word's Help menu? Is your copy fully updated (in Help|About the version number should
be "9.0.8950 SP3")?

I looked and apparently my version is not fully updated. How do I do so? I
have tried the repair option but with no luck. Thank you for your help so
far. Please let me know if you know of anything further that may help.

Hi Audrey,

You can get the Office 2000 Update: Service Pack 3 (SP3) from -
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...70-47D0-4306-9FA4-8E92D36332FE&displaylang=EN

Note: Before installing SP3, you must install Office 2000 Service Release 1a (SR1a) Update, if it's not already installed. There's a
link to it from the above page.
