Word 2000 memory prob.

I have MS Word 2000 (9.0.6926 SP-3) running on Win98 SE. I
keep getting this error, "Word has insufficient memory. Do
you want to save Document1 as Rescued document 1?" Choose
Yes or No. No matter what I choose I keep getting this
error. I've tried deleting the Normal.dot and re-running
the app but this error won't go away. I'm at the end of my
rope ... Please help.
