Word 2000 not opening

Anybody know how to deal with an error message that pops
up when you attempt to open Word 2000? Thne message
indicates: "Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We apologize for any inconvenience this
may cause." I have had this problem for awhile now and
each article or bit of advice I get from Dell or
Microsoft leads me to a dead end. Any advice? I would
greatly appreciate it. Thanks
