Word 2000 not responding in Vista Home Premium environment

Karla

After installing Office 2000 on my new Vista Home Premium HP G70, the WORD
application opens, but after a couple of seconds replies "Not responding" and
stays that way. All other applications in the package, Excel, Powerpoint,
etc. work just fine

I'm able to start Word fine using the winword.exe /a command but haven't
found any of the suggestions outlined in the link below helpful, i.e. I
renamed the "normal" files, deleted the data key - to no avail.

What do you mean by installing a printer driver?
I loaded the HP Laserjet IIP driver for my NEC Superscript 870 which is
recommended for this unsupported printer.

Any other helpful ideas?

Word needs to see a compatible printer driver installed. If you have gone
through all the recommendations and can only start in Safe Mode, it suggests
a possible printer driver problem. For a test, try installing the generic
text driver (found as standard in Widows) and test Word with it set as the
default printer.

Terry,
Thanks for all your help! I understand that you this on your time.
Unfortunately, also your last recommendation to uninstall all printers and go
to a generic one did not do the trick and I'm about to give up.

I strongly believe the problem is Vista and Office 2000 SR-1. Thanks, again.

Thank you so much for the post Karla, I've been trying for weeks to get used
to my new laptop and vista systems. The first few days I spent trying to
download drivers to get my printer to work on the new system (the solution to
which I found in a forum) and until today I've been trying to get word 2000
to work and had almost given up hope. So a big big thank you, now I can get
on with work!

I have been on so many sites and tried so many things and uninstalling
Microsoft Live add-in was the solution. Thank you! now I can finiash my
homework for my grad class.
