Word 2000 on Win ME not printing graphic objects

Running Word 2000, SR-1, on up-to-date Win ME system.

1. I "cut" a web page graphic (a JPG) from my web site (or any web site).
I then "paste" it into Word. I can see the graphics, and they show up as
expected in Print Preview. When I print, the graphics do NOT print.

2. I right-click and select "Save as..." the same JPG to my Desktop and
then I "Insert | Picture | From File" that JPG and it pastes into my
document and also displays as expected and it WILL print.

3. I made a PrintScreen of the Word document with the two images showing
and inserted it into the document and the inserted clipboard (a BMP I
presume) did display and print properly.

I have tried on two connected HP laser printers using PCL5e and PCL6 drivers
and they are up-to-date also.

When I copy the same Word document to my XP systems running Office XP, the
document prints properly on those same printers with no problem in all
cases.

When I print a web page, the graphics/page prints properly.

So, what would should I do to get to the bottom of the Cut/Paste problem
with graphics?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

The likelihood is that (a) when you paste, you're pasting the graphic
"floating" (wrapped) and when you insert it you're inserting in inline (In
Line With Text) and (b) on one system you don't have "Drawing objects"
checked on the Print tab of Tools | Options and on the other you do.

Thank you. I will check tomorrow. What would the "floating" result in? (I
get a blank page printed despite proper "Preview" appearance.)

I definitely have the "Drawing objects" checked on both systems -- I
searched MS KB and that popped up every time (but seems to mean it will not
show in Print Preview in that case). I do see it in Preview.

If you're seeing the graphics in Print Preview, then they should print. As
far as Word is concerned, they are going to print. So the problem is between
Word and the printer. It may be that a new driver is needed, or perhaps the
printer doesn't have enough memory?
