Word 2000 on XP Drawing button cursor should be cross hair but is.

In Word 2000 on Windows XP Pro...I can't get the cursor to change to a cross
hair after I click on a button in the drawing tool bar. In Excel 2000, the
cursor changes to a cross hair when I click on that program's drawing
toolbar's buttons. Why the difference? My Win2000 computer (I no longer own)
with Word 2000 properly displayed the crosshair when a drawing button was
clicked. Same in Win 98. Only problem is in Word...and it is only on my XP
computer.

Any ideas for changing this behavior to the desired behavior would be
extremely appreciated!!!
