Word 2000 opens with old doc.

Everytime I open Word, there is an old document that I typed months ago. I have deleted the doc. I have removed and re-installed Word. Yet, it is there when I open Word again. The properties tells me that the application was altered on the day I orginally typed the old doc. What now?

I have this same problem with Word 2002! I've tried
everything also, and nothing seems to have worked.
Hopefully someone will know what's going on and how to
fix it!!
