Word 2000 Problem...

hey there...I'm having a problem with microsoft word 2000...an old business
letter I typed up this morning opens up everytime I click on my microsoft
word shortcut to try and bring up a new blank document...how do I make it so
that a new blank document opens up when I click on my shortcut instead of a
previously typed letter...please help!!!
