Word 2000 Problem

I've had Word 2000 installed on a Win98 machine for a few years. Recently,
the program would only open halfway and then stop. I uninstalled Word and
then reinstalled it from the Office 2000 CD. Installation was normal. But
the problem persists. It won't fully open. So I uninstalled it and installed
Word 97, which works fine. Any idea what could be causing Word 2000 to hang?
