WORD 2000 problems (file & tools buttons)

Thanks in advance for helping.....

I can open and edit WORD docs, but I cannot use the 'file' & 'tools'
buttons......WORD will shut down as soon as I click either one.

I have to save all docs under the same name, right click to rename, and then
open it up again to edit (so I can have the original for reference).

I'm baffled and have no clue as to why this is happening or how to fix
it.....Excel works just fine.

Try rebuilding the Word data key as described at
