word 2000 professional.

I lost word. even my shortcut on my screen changed. when i go to my docs to
open a word file..it starts to configure my system and asks for disc 1 to re
install..got disc 2 ..can't find 1..error message is 1706..any ideas on how
to repair/find? thanks greg

This can be caused by several things, but to correct it you will need
to zap the Windows Installer entry in the Registry and reinstall
Office/Word.

Obtain the following utility and use it to remove only the reference
to Office/Word. Once that is complete then you'll need to reinstall
Office/Word to point the Windows Installer to your installation CD:
