Hi all,
I am looking for anyone that has come across this problem before. A
staff member at our school was working on a new planning document, a
template off the network (NT4 Server + Win98se workstations). At some
point or somehow the file was saved as a shortcut file (not sure how).
She got through most of the planning document in one sitting (saving
along the way) but when trying to open it later went to click on the
file (not noticing that it was a shortcut itme) was told that it
wasn't available or not valid network location, please check
permissions.
An extensive search could not locate the original doc only the
shortcut files in her home directories. The file could not be loacted
anywhere on our network.
Any ideas??? I am trying to work out-
1. did she do something that caused this?? (Shortcut files are not a
file tye in word that can be selected for saving.
2. Is it some kind of network glitch that occured??
Any ideas no matter how remote would be appreciated as I woiuld like
to avoid this again....if possible.
