I have read as many posts as I can find in Google, Microsoft (waste of
time) and Symantic, about Word opening slow.. here is my info: Win XP
home SP1 (updated today), Office 2000, Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop,
Norton AntiVirus, Spybot, AdAwareSE, Zone Alarm (free version). I tried
renaming normal.dot - no change. I tried turning off Norton's office
add-in's - no change. I looked for the Works plug-ins & could not find
them, does not seem to be an issue. I did not go into the registry
stuff because I did find a post from anyone that was successful. There
seemed to be more success with normal.dot and Noton add-ins. The
laptop came preloaded with Works. Originally, office 2000 was loaded
without any changes to Works. I unloaded Office 2000 and Works then
reloaded Office 2000. The only thing left from works is Money, Streets
and QuickShelf. Word takes 30 - 50 seconds to load but only the first
time after the laptop is booted. After the first load, it is fine. No
problems with Excel, PowerPoint, Access or Publisher (didn't try Front
Page). Up for any and all suggestions... Thanks in advance.
