Word 2000 Slows Down

D

Dave

Hi

I'm using Windows 98 SE with 64Mb RAM and have started having problems
with Word 2000 getting slower and slower during a session. For example
I will open a file from a folder, close it, open another file, close
it and by now the list of files displayed in the folder are already
taking longer to appear. The files are not big - no graphics, and
after an hour or so of working like this the response time is painful.
If I close Word down and then restart the program my speed is back to
normal.

If anyone has any ideas as to why Word is doing this, I'd love to hear
from you!

If you have Word as part of Office 2000, open Outlook and make sure that
journaling is not enabled. This can really slow down opening and closing
files.
