Word 2000 Splash screen

Is there a way to disable the splash screen for Word 2000? I've tried adding
"/q" to a shortcut, but no joy.

IIRC, the /q switch is only available if you have Service Release 1 (SR1).
Take a look at Help/About to verify if SR1 is installed.

However, note that removing the view of the splash screen does not speed up
start time -- you'll still see the hourglass for the same amount of time.

Thanks Beth. Looks like that's the problem. I know it won't speed it up, I
just hate splash screens.

Glad to hear that's what you were after. Most are disappointed when they
learn suppressing the splash screen doesn't make things run faster.
