Word 2000 stopped working

I'm running WinXP (home) and Office 2000. Word stopped working for some
unknown reason. Excel still opens and runs fine. I tried to do a repair
from the install disk, but I get an error during the repair. I have
uninstalled, rebooted, then re-installed Office 2000, downloaded each
service pack and run each one, and Word still will not open. I've run a
partial virus scan (scanned my c drive) and have no viruses. The error
message that I get when trying to run Word is that it experienced an error
and needs to close.

Not sure what to do now.

TIA,
Kristie

Hi Kristie,

I actually found that article after I posted my problem and found that one
of my templates is bad. I haven't had time yet to figure out which one it
is. I moved all of my templates into another folder and scanned them for
viruses (there were none). Word is working fine for me now and now I just
have to find time to test each template to see which one got messed up.

Hi!

I got similar problem on Monday.

First I run winword.exe with switch a=> winword.exe /a and my Word programme
worked again.

I renamed Normal.dot to Normal.old and after that everything looks fine.
