Word 2000 to new 2002 lost file text and table

Opening a file reported as 20kb created in Word 2000, I
get a blank page when opening it in Word 2002 XP).

Also, perhaps related to: I'm unable to complete Office XP
Update installs for SP-1, etc, I get "error 1328".

20 kb is probably about right for an empty file in Word 2000.
