word 2000 to wordxp formatting problem

I have created a large document with tables and graphics
using word 2000. When I sent it to my client who has word
xp the document on the screen, in Print Layout View, has a
huge area of white on the right white representing the
paper extends beyond the 8.5" allotted. When printing, the
printer automatically resizes to allow for the ghost space
so the text is smaller than it should be and the right and
bottom margins are huge.

Also the document has a problem printing for him and
spools for ever. It looks and prints fine for me. I
have been trying to solve this for days and would
appreciate any help.

I'm not sure I understand what's happening. However, try
this as a solution...

On your computer in Word 2000, save the file as a RTF
(rich text file) and send that to your client. When they
open the file in Word XP it will be converted back to a
Word format.

Occasionally, saving a file as RTF and allowing Word to
automatically convert it back to Word format will clear
corruption in the file.

Hi Rebecca. I'm not sure about Word 2000, but in Word XP there is an
option to print "Document with Markup" instead of just the plain
document, and I think your client has selected this option. Tell your
client to click on File | Print, and in the "Print What" box, select
"Document" instead of "Document with Markup". This should make the
expanded margins at the right and bottom go away, and the document
should be normal size in print preview and when printed. This might fix
the "spools forever" problem too. Hope this helps.
