Word 2000 virus??

I don't think this problem is older than 2 weeks, but I'm not sure when it
started.

My Word docs are going crazy, even old ones. When I open them up, they are
much larger than they should be, they have tons of pages of nonsense at the
end, followed by a page of what looks like "format instructions". All of my
formatting is gone from the docs. Some won't open, because they are so
large, I had one that was over 360,000 kb, yet it should only have been
about 3,000 kb. I'm c/p'ing a sample of one of these incorrect docs below.

The program itself seems unstable and crashes often, usually with a warning
box, that I can send an error report to MS or not. The reasons for the
error are hard for me to understand.

My OS is XP home, and I haven't added any new software recently. I did have
a problem with a trojan (SAHagent.exe) a few weeks ago, but I'm positive I
got rid of it, and have run House Calls, SpyBot and AdAware, and appear to
be clean.

I don't use Word macs, and checked to make sure there weren't any. I'm
frustrated and worried, please help!

<start c/p of doc, this was a simple form, all the extraneous stuff
shouldn't be there, and you can see where even the font has changed.
Sometimes it shows my IP.)

Not an expert, but;
the "formatting instructions" would indicate that your "File->Open",
"Files of Type" is set to "Recover text from any file"

In the File Open dialog, change the "Files of type" setting from "Recover
Text from Any File" to "All Word Documents."

Whewwwwwww! Thank you SO much! I was trying not to panic, but ALL my docs
were messed up, and I was pretty nervous lol

The reason I changed that File/Open type, is I can't get Notepad to work
right (I'm a mess since that darn SAHagent grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr), and one site
I read suggested changing the file/open, but it didn't work, and I forgot to
change it back. Doh

Thank you again ;o))

Btw, how did you see that? I don't see anything about "files of type" in
what i pasted lol
I must be getting old!
