Please could some kind person tell me how I should insert
my graphics (using word 2000 as web page editor)in order
to enable visitors to my website to save or download the
pictures. I am desperate!

If users can see the graphics, they can save them by right-clicking and
selecting "Save Picture As." The trick is getting Word to insert a relative
link referring to the picture that is actually stored on the Web server
rather than the location on your hard drive. I've been struggling with that
for weeks and have yet to find a complete solution.

The solution may be found in the browser used, wherr IE6 offer "Show Images
Toolbar" with Clicks to save or print.

Hi Suzanne,

I'm not clear on how the relativity applies when moving
your web page from your hard drive to a web server.

In Word 2000 if your web server supports FrontPage server
extensions you can publish your web page with the graphics
from File=>Save.

You could also place the graphics on the web server first
and link them by pasting from the website or from
Insert=>Picture and paste the URL of the graphic into
the insert dialog.

Hi Elize,

How are you moving your Word web document from your
hard drive to your web server?

What I am aiming for are those little icons that appear
with "mouse over" the graphics. When I insert a movie
then it does appear so I assume it would be the way one
inserts the graphic and have tried all the options as
well as settings on IE6. When I visit another website my
IE6 does give me that option.

I can insert absolute paths to the graphic on the Web server, but then they
don't display in my document if I'm offline, so I prefer to keep the path
the same in the Web page on my machine and on the server. Since all the
supporting files are in a subfolder, a relative path works fine both ways if
I can just get Word to leave it alone. I've disabled "Update links on save"
in the Web Options, but this doesn't seem to help; the moment I save, my
relative path (even though I've made the change in the HTML source) gets
converted back to an absolute one--to the location of the files on my HD.
