WORD 2000 WILL NOT OPEN

Hi

Each time I try to open my Word Doc. either by double
click on desktop icon or via start and programmes, etc. I
get the following message in a dialogue box.

Kernel 32 has caused a general protect fault in module
user.exe ar 0003:00003b9b.

Can anyone help.

I also sometimes get a fault message OE-017F-BFF8E64B
whenever I attempt to restart.
