I diligently followed the troubleshooting directives to
address my inability to open Word 2000 without crashing as
outlined in KB Article # 236319, I completely uninstalled
and reinstalled the program several times, all to no avail.
I suspect the problem lies in the Global Template, but
when I tried to rename normal.dot, I got an error message
telling me I did not have access to do this (this is a
home system), that the file was probably in use (the
program was closed). I can open the program using the "/a
switch" method, but there must be a better way. I've
scanned for viruses, but nothing was reported infected.
I'd apprecite any insights, because I've wasted days
trying to fix this problem. Thank you in advance.
