Word 2000 won't open

All of a sudden, Word 2000 refuses to open. Instead, it send me this message
saying "This application must be installed to run. Please run Setup from the
location where you originally installed the application."
I tried reinstalling, but that didn't work. In fact, now when I go to
Add/Remove program and tell it to remove Word, the computer freezes and I get
a blue screen.
I'm running Windows XP on the Dell Dimension 4300.
Any ideas?
