Word 2000 won't open

K

keith

Since a crash caused me to reinstall microsoft office all
works OK but word won't open. I get a registry error
message.
The log says
coding error: value[] should not be referenced in key
[hkusers\]
I have looked at the registry (not changed anything) and
cannot find this.
Any ideas?
I have removed and reinstalled office twice since bubt the
problem still exists

wesley,
I have tried this but no luck. I can open word with the /a
key but it still won't open normally.
Further investugation shows that winfax is causing the
problem, mucking up the registry. If I remove winfax word
works OK, but reinstall it and word won't open again.
This is a puzzle.

keith;
Well at least you have narrowed down the problem. First part of
troubleshooting. I don't know what to tell you about winfax. After I got
my cable modem, I ripped the 56K modem out of my machine and banished it to
my garage. Make you a good deal on it. The modem, not the garage. ;-)

You can still fax by choosing the WinFax printer in the Print dialog, so
you're probably better off leaving the WinfW2k.dot add-in uninstalled.
