Word 2000 won't save edited documents

I've been trying to edit existing docs (which I've done several times
before), but now for some reason it won't save the new version. It says that
it can't either save or create the new version as the disc may be full or
damaged, neither of which is correct. I've changed the docs from "read-only"
but it still won't save them. What can I do? Microsoft won't help me so I
hope someone out there can.

Have you tried saving the document in RTF format.... If not then save the
document in RTF format....
