Word 2000 works in some XP profiles, but not in others

Dave

I am running Windows XP Home, Word 2000 on a Dell
Dimension 4300.

Word 2000 will not open in my profile, giving me a
message that the program has encountered a problem and
needs to shut down. But I have no problem using it under
a different profile. It's a pain to have to log off and
re-log on as a different user every time I want to use it.

Any suggestion?

reinstall word under your profile or go into users and
groups and make your profile a "system administrator"

Login to your profile then click on start > run >
and type in "winword /a" without the quotes.
If word opens up fine with no error messages then
i recommand you doing the following (ofcourse after
closing word) :
1- click on start > run > and type in %appdata%.
2- a folder called application data will open up
containing other folders.
3- double click on the microsoft folder inside of
application data then you double click on the folder
templates.
4- you will find the file normal.dot in templates.
delete it.
then try to open word.

if word works fine with no errors than your problem is
solved . The normal template of word was corrupted by
deleting it and restarting word. Word creates a new one.

Let me know what happened.
take care
