Word 2000

I am running Microsoft Word 2000 on Windows Vista Basic. Today, it started
giving
a message stating "Microsoft Word not responding". This happens whenever I
attempt to open any document, including starting from a new blank sheet. Word
worked fine yesterday. There were some Windown updates downloaded yesterday.
I tried to do a system restore, however there is an error somewhere and will
not allow me to do the restore. Any help with this would be greatly
