Word 2000

recently updated windows live messenger, and for some reason I cannot open
word effectively. A screen appears, but no tool bar, and the system
indicates it is not responding. I can however, open it by typing under the
run command winword.exe /a. Also, I deleted the data registry as recommended
to another user.

Note that poorly designed add-ins could cause the strangest of problems.
