Word 2000

Using word 2000 when you try to open the hour glass just
continues to spin and word won't open. Occassionally get
message resources too low do you wish to close. If you
close then other items come up with same message (Explorer
resources too low do you wish to close and so on. I also
notice that if you click properties on Microsoft word in
programs that the shortcuts are blank showing no path to
the word.exe file. I have run an norton antivirus and
another antivirus program with latest updates to be sure
there are no viruses. Any suggestions would be
appreciated. Thank You
