Word 2001 on OS X

Any help would be much apreciated!

I purchased a G5 and installed Office 2001. When I launch Word I'm able to
open and work on files, but the program won't allow me to save the
document. The save window does not open, but the applicaton flickers for a
second. All the other Office applications work fine. I initially thought it was a
font issue, and ran font doctor to no avail.

Has anyone experienced this problem.
