Word 2001 quit unexpectly

Jane

I have an iBook G4 and I installed microsoft word 2001 on classic.
While I inserted some tables, it quitted unexpectly. I can reopen the
file, but just a few seconds, then it quitted again. Someone suggested
that I should enlarge memory, but the problem's still there. I tried
with 98, the result is the same. What should I do? Any suggestions
are appréciated.

Hi Jane,

It sounds like one or more of these tables is corrupt. Are you importing
them from another source?

Can you insert just one of these tables in a Word 2001 document without
crashing? If so, try "uncorrupting" each table as follows:

With the cursor inserted anywhere in the table, go to Table> Convert>
Convert Table to Text. Then immediately, without moving the cursor, go to
Table> Convert> Convert Text to Table. (In the dialog boxes that appear
when you do this, just click Okay; don't change any settings.)

When all of the tables are "uncorrupted," try inserting them all in a single
document again.

Also, how did you increase memory and to what level? And is your version of
Word 2001 fully updated? See the following article on the correct
procedures: <http://word.mvps.org/MacWordNew/TroubleshootWord2001.htm>
(If using Safari, hit Refresh once or twice; or use another browser for this
site.)

Thank you for your assistance. This is crucial for my graduation.
Without your help, my thesis will be postponed. Apology for my
English.

I created these tables and put them in my intenet account. I just down
load them and pasted in Microsoft word file. The total pages are over
70. I tried to insert one table, it's okay.

Your advice is very helpful, thank you again.
