HELP!!!!!!!
i'm having major problems with my word 2001. [i have a 12" powerbook
G4] it worked fine for a few days then it died. i had the office X
demo. [which i did use until it expired] but then all of a sudden my
normal word 2001 wouldn't launch.!?
i uninstalled the X demo, reinstalled the entire office 2001 - 3x
already. and nothing. pwr pnt, excel and entourage work fine, but word
just won't cooperate. i've made sure that .doc files are set to open
up with word, and installed the SR1 update and zilch.
bad BO? dirty fingernails? ..i don't know.
any...any help most most appreciated.

gracias,
citroven

Hi Citroven,

Try some basic troubleshooting first:

Raise Word 2001's Preferred memory: Navigate to the Word application in the
Finder, select it and Get Info (Command i). Go to the Memory pane and raise
Word's Preferred memory to 48000K (leave Minimum memory alone). Also, be
sure Virtual Memory is turned on (Control Panels> Memory).

Now, rebuild your desktop.

If you're still having the problem, post back.

Beth,
i increased memory size as you suggested, but was unable to find the
memory panel to switch VM on. trust me when i say i searched all over,
even took it to a mac-saavy friend and even he was unable to find
it-which shocked him. could it be possible that my machine didn't come
with this memory panel??
in the apple profiler within the classic environment i see that VM is
off, so there's got to be a way to switch it on. i don't understand
why i can't find this damn memory panel.
maybe i should switch to appleworks!?

any suggestions?
