word 2001changes font

R

rm1008

In word 2001, in cut and paste, in switching from one document to another
and pasting to the new document the font often does not remain the font that
I have set as default. For instance, default will be courier, and doing one
of the above I will get Times New Roman or New York

Is there an explanation and fix for this?

Thanks, Rafael

Rafael,

Thanks for mentioning your version.

If someone has formatted their text by styles only (e.g., Body Text), and
you have that style available, you should expect to see the text take on the
format you have chosen for that style. If they have modified it manually,
that manual formatting will stay with the text.

The simplest way of pulling the character formatting back to the
specification of your style is to key Control-Spacebar (if you have dragged
text into the new document, you would do this before you de-select the text;
if you have copied and pasted you'll need to re-select it.

For anyone else watching: In Word 2004 (maybe X -- but I skipped that
version) you are presented with an option to format the text as it appeared
in its parent document or adopt the formatting of your document, but I find
it's faster just to Control-Spacebar.

If you do a lot of incorporating of other text into your documents, post
back and I'll give you the refs to where I cover the subject in "Bend Word
to Your Will".
