Word 2002 100% CPU usage, I have already installed SP3 for office.

I have Office XP Professional installed. Word started locking up at 100% CPU
usage after an attachment was opened. The system has been scanned for a virus
using McAfee, nothing found. I installed Office SP 3 which described my
problem but did not fix it. I uninstalled and reinstalled Office still no
help. The only program affected is Word, all others work with no problem.

Instead of opening the Word attachment directly from the email, try
right-clicking on the attachment and Save As to your hard drive, then try to
open the file on your hard drive.

I did that, but it does this anytime I open Word. I
deleted the file I believe caused it but it still freezes
at 100% CPU

I misunderstood your question... I thought you were just having problems
opening one particular Word attachment in an email. See
