Word 2002 and Access 2000

M

Myriam

Hi everybody!

I'm not sure who's to blame. I have an Access 2000
database. I created a query to pull some data to be used
in a business letter in Word 2000.

Of course, in my PC everything works just fine. The
problem arises with my client PC. She has Windows XP and
Office 2002(Access included). When she opens the Word
document and tries to find and specific record, the search
will find no match even though we both know the record is
there. Both document and database are installed in a
server, but I haven't got any problems.

We installed Office service packs but the problem remains.

Has anyone come across a problem like this? Any
suggestions?

Thank you.

Hi Myriam,

Does the query contain wildcards (* and/or ?) ? By default,
Word 2002 uses an OLE DB connection, where Word 2000 uses
DDE. This has a number of consequences for what happens when
you link up to queries...

Have your client try explicitly choosing a DDE connection.
You'll find instructions for this in the Word 2002 section of
my website's mail merge FAQ.
