Word 2002 and Adobe 6 Pro

Tony

After installing Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional, I noticed
that Word 2002 with SP2 takes about 20 secs to open up.
This happens every time I clear the Temporary Internet
Files. I did notice the following 2 files in that
directory that if left in there the problem of Word
hanging when opening disappeared. The files are
Class3CodeSigning2001 and CodeSignPCA. Both are crl
files. If I do delete all the temp files the only way to
get Word to open normally is to download another PDF file
and open it. This places those 2 files in the Temp
directory agin. Adobe says it is a Microsoft problem.
Hope somebody can help.

They *would* say that. The Adobe add-ins produce mischief with word in every
one of their Acrobat releases. I'm mystified as to what sort of testing they
do.

Here's a couple of things to try in Word (I haven't tried Acrobat 6 yet so I
am not yet familiar with its unique quirks):
1. Tools > Macro > Security > Trusted Publishers > check the box that says
"Trust all installed add-ins and templates";
2. Tools > Templates and Add-ins. Try disabling the Adobe elements. If you
want to create Word PDFs use File > Print > PDFwriter or Distiller.

Hi Mike

Thanks for that it worked great and I can still print my
PDF docs. Wonder if MS is going to bring out a patch.

It would be up to Adobe to do that. It's their product. They usually release
a point release update with a few months of a major release. The main
problem I've noticed is that they always seem to release a few months ahead
of a new Office release and don't show evidence of testing their add-ins
against the Office beta.
