Word 2002 bullets

Whenever I try to insert bullets in a Word 2002 document,
the application crashes with this error
message: "Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

This is a new problem - it used to work perfectly.

Any ideas?
