Word 2002 - "Changes to Global Template"

I have tried everything via the www to resolve this problem that has
recently commenced on ONLY ONE of my three PCs on a network. Every time I
close MSWord 2002 on this one PC I now get a warning:
"Changes have been made that affect the global template, Normal.dot. Do you
want to save changes?"

The only thing that is different on this PC is that Microsoft ActiveSync is
installed to communicate with my Pocket PC via Bluetooth.

All PCs are up-to-date with XP Prof (SP2), Office XP (SP3) and they all have
recently installed McAfee Internet Security Suite 2007.

Look thru Tools; Options carefully. ANYthing that updates (on close, open,
etc.) ANY field in any way is a trigger that something changed and will
bring up that message.
It's also possible that the other two machines simply have that
notification turned OFF. Same place, tools, options.

Many thanks for your help - my other two machines (who are not installed
with MS Active Sync and Bluetooth) do have the notification turned ON and
they do not have the problem. On looking through Tools on the problem
machine I can find nothing untoward. However, when looking at Com Add-ins
(via Tools/customize) I note that I see only "Microsoft Word East European
Tool" available whereas if I go to help/about Word/System info/MSWord
2002/Com Add-ins I see "Send to Bluetooth" and "Microsoft Word East European
Tool". I have no wish for MS Word to communicate via Bluetooth to my Pocket
PC and hence would like to get rid of this "Send to Bluetooth" just in case
it is the cause of the problem but, because it does not appear in Com
Add-ins, I have no way of removing it ..... any ideas - thanks - Rob

If you start in Safe Mode and then close Word, does it stop prompting to
Save normal.dot? From Start, Run, type in

winword /a

and press enter. Test now. If it is now Ok then there is probably an add-in
causing the normal.dot to be marked as dirty. Adobe Acrobat is one very
common culprit.

Many thanks Terry - when in Safe Mode, the problem still occurs BUT I have
now tried your suggestion of opening Word via:
Run, type in winword /a
when in normal mode and the problem disappears!
I do have Adobe on all my systems but this problem only occurs with this one
PC.
Could it be due to my Bluetooth link to my Pocket PC - it is interesting
that after opening as above, the "File/Send to/Bluetooth" option in Word has
disappeared. I have no wish/need to connect Word to my Pocket PC; is there
any way of removing the Bluetooth element from Word (please note my response
to "pop" above re Bluetooth only showing in "Word/System info/MSWord
2002/Com add-ins"?

I have now uninstalled Bluetooth and the problem is resolved - many thanks

The test proves it is definitely an add-in: a Bluetooth add-in (presumably a
hand-held utility) could very well be the problem.
