Word 2002 clears clipboard - WHY?

Whenever I open Word after a copy & paste (e.g., from a web page), the
clipboard is cleared and the PASTE menu item is disabled when I open (i.e.
launch) MS Word 2002.

Is there a way to disable this? I know the work around is to open Word
first, but I prefer to just disable it.

Found the answer with Google.

"I'm guessing that your copy of Word is part of Works Suite. If so, go to
the Add/Remove Programs control panel and uninstall the Works Suite Add-In
for Word. That add-in, among other misdeeds, clears the clipboard when you
start Word. You're far better off without it. "
