Word 2002 crashes when "Tools" used

I have Office XP/Word 2002. Every time I click on
the "Tools" button in the taskbar, Word crashes. Any
suggestions?

I'm experiencing the same problem each time I try to add a
text box to a word doc. I just upgraded to 2002 and
yesterday, I could add a text box with no problem. Today,
the application crashes each time I try to add one. I can
duplicate with no problem. I have run Detect and Repair
and reinstalled the whole app, but the problem still
exists. Can you help me, too?

Hi Diane,

If you are experiencing a crash when you attempt to insert a text box
then your problem is not the same as Doug's.

What happens if you go to Tools/Options/General and turn off
"Automatically create drawing canvas when inserting AutoShapes"?

Additionally what patches do you have installed? Take a look under
Help/About to find this information.
